The embattled Former governor of Delta State, Sen. Ifeanyi Okowa, made his first public appearance as he joined Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori at a service of songs held in honour of Mrs. Victoria Ossai Obielum, mother of renowned politician Godwill Obielum.
Okowa was detained on Monday, November 4th, 2024, for an alleged N1.3 trillion scam but was released on Friday after his passport was taken.
The Delta State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Solomon Arenyenka, as well as members of the party’s state executive committee, political luminaries, and senior serving and former security officers, were among those in attendance at the popular event.
The service of songs took place on Wednesday at Obielum’s mansion in Asaba, the Delta state capital.
Delivering a sermon at the event, Pastor Ifeanyi Ogude of Heaven Bound Christian International Church Ministry spoke on the essence of life, admonishing Christians to dedicate their lives to the service of God and humanity.
He said, “Nobody knows when death will come, and as such, people should be prepared by living a good life and leaving worthy legacies behind, as they will be remembered for what they did.”
Mrs. Obielum died at the age of 87 on Thursday, 20th June 2024, and her remains will be interred on Saturday, 16th November 2024, at Obielum’s residence in Ushie, Ndokwa East Local Government Area of the state.
