The Ohanaeze Ndigbo group led by Chidi Ibeh yesterday applauded the governing All Progressives Congress (APC) decision to nominate Ben Kalu, the member representing Bende Federal Constituency, as its preferred candidate for Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives in the 10th Assembly.
According to the Igbo group, he is the finest contender from the South East for the role.
Okechukwu Isiguzoro, Secretary General of the factional top Igbo socio-cultural body, stated in a statement in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital, that the choice of Kalu was based on his modest nature and track record of successes.
Isiguzoro begged other elected members, particularly those from the South East, to back him up.
According to the organisation, Kalu’s expertise as Chairman of the House Committee on Information will help the APC leadership and President-elect, Bola Tinubu, to put a stop to Biafra agitators and other secessionists’ activities.
According to The Guardian, zoning the job by area will improve Nigeria’s national integration, unity, equity, justice, fairness, national prosperity, and multi-ethnic variety.
