    Nwifuru slams 85 aides with 1-month suspension

    Francis Nwifuru, governor of Ebonyi state, has suspended 85 political appointees for allegedly failing to attend an “important” government function.

    The political appointees suspended include 25 commissioners, 14 senior special assistants, 24 special assistants, and 22 permanent secretaries.

    In a statement on Monday, Monday Uzor, chief press secretary to the Ebonyi governor, said the officials will proceed on a “one-month working suspension without salary”.

    The names of the suspended officials listed in the statement are:

    Uzor said Nwifuru directed that the suspended officials should not sign any official document within the period of their suspension.

    The CPS said the affected commissioner should hand over to their respective permanent secretaries.

    In March, Nwifuru dismissed two of his aides from their positions over alleged misconduct.

    The affected officials were Felix Okemini, senior special assistant to the governor on security (Ebonyi north senatorial district), and Nnanna Nwangele, special assistant on airport security.
