A Nigerian woman has reportedly lost her life after returning to the country from Canada.
It was gathered that the yet-to-be identified woman, who returned to the country healthy, felt ill days later and died at an unnamed hospital.
The death of the returnee was announced by her niece, Wura Nicole, in a statement on X on Saturday.
According to Nicole, her aunt, who was “purging”, died from cholera.
Chronicle NG reports that no fewer than 30 people have died and 1,141 have been hospitalised following the outbreak of cholera in the country.
The bereaved niece mentioned that her aunt, who was “purging and vomiting” at the same time, complained she was weak until she died.
Nicole wrote, “My aunt got back from Canada last week; she wasn’t sick or anything.
“Monday morning, she started purging and vomiting but was able to drag herself to the hospital.
“She kept saying she was weak until she passed away.
“Only for us to hear about the cholera outbreak days later.”
