The Director General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ahmed Abubakar, on Saturday tendered his resignation to President Bola Tinubu.
Abubakar submitted his letter of resignation to the president on Saturday, NTA reported.
Abubakar, who was appointed by former President Muhammadu Buhari in 2018, said Tinubu accepted his resignation after a routine briefing at the presidential villa.
Abubakar, cited personal reasons for his resignation but emphasized his continued commitment to Nigeria’s security.
He expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for the opportunity to serve and for the confidence placed in him.
As of the time of filing this report, the reason for his resignation is not yet known.
The Presidency has yet to issue an official statement on the development.
