An Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court in Lagos State has sentenced one Igwe Ambrose, a 65-year-old landlord, to double life imprisonment for sexual assault.
The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency disclosed this in a statement posted on its X handle on Monday.
According to the statement, the landlord committed the offences at Shagari Estate, Ipaja, between January and June 2021.
The statement read, “Ambrose was found guilty of inserting fingers into the private parts of his tenant’s children. The survivors are aged seven and 11.
“They arraigned him on a four-count charge for sexually assaulting a child through penetration and indecent treatment.”
The judge, Abiola Soladoye,described the landlord as a “dirty old man” who fingered and touched the breasts of the survivors on the pretext of helping them with their school assignments.
Soladoye sentenced the defendant to life imprisonment for counts one and two each, while counts three and four carried a seven-year jail term each.
The statement added that his name will be registered in the Sexual Offenders Register as maintained by Lagos State.
