Members of the Lagos State House of Assembly have praised Speaker Mojisola Meranda’s leadership and legislative performance, highlighting her diligence and influence in her brief tenure.
Meranda took office on January 13, 2025, following the dismissal of former Speaker Mudashiru Obasa, who is apparently set to be reinstated.
Despite her limited term, members praised her ability to successfully manage and create a healthy environment in the Assembly.
During the plenary session, which started around 2:20 p.m., Aro Moshood (Oshodi-Isolo I) led the praising session, calling Meranda’s leadership “positively life-transforming.”
He mentioned that her approach to governance had been exemplary, despite the challenges that came with the transition.
Kehinde Joseph (Alimosho II) supported the commendations, emphasizing Meranda’s resilience and humility, saying, “You have made history with your resilience and humility.” Your time may be limited, but you have written your name in gold.”
Other lawmakers expressed similar remarks, emphasizing her commitment to legislative excellence and consensus building.
They also recognized her efforts to maintain order and stability in the House amid a time of political instability.
Although rumors about Obasa’s likely return as Speaker remain, Meranda’s leadership according to the lawmakers, has made a profound impression on her colleagues, who have applauded her for protecting the House’s integrity.
