The Rivers State Police Command has arrested Damian Chinaemerem Okoligwe, who allegedly maimed Otuene Justina Nkang in Port Harcourt.
Justina was a 300-level biological chemistry student, and Damian was a 400-level student at the University of Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
Justina, who was declared missing four days ago, was found dead at the suspect’s residence situated on Road 15, NTA Road, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
She was said to be doing her industrial training at a private hospital in Port Harcourt and was declared missing after leaving her place of work.
Sources close to the victim said she left her place of primary responsibility to visit her boyfriend in a highbrow area in Port Harcourt.
The source claimed that the student’s suspected boyfriend murdered her and mutilated her breasts, eyes, and other body parts.
According to a source, the vigilante group in the area caught the suspect as he attempted to dispose of the victim’s decomposing corpse in a refuse dump after keeping the victim’s mutilated corpse with him in his apartment for three days.
“Otuene Justina Nkang was reported to be missing four days ago. She was a 300-level student of biological chemistry at UNIPORT, but unfortunately, she was killed by her boyfriend, who tried disposing of her body this evening (Wednesday) but was caught. The suspect has been handed over to the police,” the source stated.
The Rivers State Police Command Public Relations Officer, SP Grace Iringe Koko, said that the Commissioner of Police, Policarp Emeka Nwaonyi, would address the media on the matter on Thursday (today).
