Protesters shouted down Ayodele Olawande, Minister of State for Youths Development, as he came to Eagles Square in Abuja to address them.
The demonstrators continued to shout “hunger dey” as the minister attempted to address the gathering, stopping him from speaking.
However, after quelling the crowd, the minister stated that he was not seeking to shut down the demonstration, identifying himself as a comrade who had attended between one hundred and five hundred marches.
“I’m not here to fight you; I’m not here to ask you not to protest; it is your right. Like I said, I’ve been to over 100-500 protests,” he said.
The minister also stated that he would address the police over the use of canisters against demonstrators.
Meanwhile, demonstrators have reiterated that they will not join the others at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, pointing out that a parallel rally was staged a few days ago without police interference.
