Donfa Chirtip, a police officer, was assassinated, and his wife, Victoria, abducted, in Kurmin Kare, Kachia Local Government Area, Kaduna State.

Zagazola Makama, a security analyst and counter-insurgency expert, confirmed this on X on Saturday.

Makama added that the Donfa, who is assigned to the Special Protection Unit Base 7, Abuja, was allegedly attacked by gunmen while returning from his farmland with his wife on Friday.

According to him, the cop’s lifeless body was discovered in a village within the neighbourhood later that evening.

He further alleged that security personnel who arrived at the site discovered a serious cut on his neck.

“The deceased, identified as Inspector Donfa Chirtip of the Special Protection Unit Base 7, Abuja, was discovered lifeless on Friday evening with a deep cut on his neck in a farmland within the village. Joint patrol teams swiftly moved to the scene, where the officer’s body was found.

“Preliminary investigation suggests that the inspector and his wife, Mrs Victoria Chirtip, had gone to the farm earlier in the morning around 7:00 a.m. on a motorcycle.”

“They were thought to have been ambushed by unknown assailants on their way back in the evening,” Makama wrote.

He further stated that his remains were transported to Doka General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead by a medical officer and deposited in the hospital mortuary.

Meanwhile, attempts were stated to be underway to locate the missing wife and catch the perpetrators of the incident.

Mansir Hassan, spokesperson for the Kaduna State Police Command, was unavailable for comment on Sunday, as our correspondent’s calls to his phone line went unanswered.
