A three-year-old girl has been kidnapped in Akure, the capital of Ondo State, by gunmen suspected to be kidnappers.
The girl was abducted from her house around 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, just after her mother returned home after a church program.
The devastated mother, Taiwo Fashina, described the incident, stating that the kidnappers, two in number and armed with a gun, tracked her home at the property located in Second Gate axis of the Army Barracks, along Ondo road, Akure.
After she had opened the gate, the gunmen attacked in an unlicensed Mercedes automobile, she said.
According to Fashina, the gunmen threatened to shoot her if she didn’t hand over her car key, which she did right away.
“They asked me to lie on the ground so I could not look up, but faintly I saw one of them carrying something, but I just thought they were carrying a bag and I didn’t know whether it was my baby girl they carried.
“They used masks to cover their noses and mouths and asked me not to shout. They didn’t go in the car, they only went with the car key.
“I was calling Mary, where are you? I then noticed that I didn’t see the girl, that was when I started shouting and people came around.
The incident was yet to be confirmed by the Ondo state police command at the time of filing this report.
