Patrick Aghamba, Anambra State’s Commissioner for Youth Development, and his wife have reportedly been kidnapped.
Details of the incident remain vague, but sources say the commissioner’s aide, ABK Offiah, was killed in the process.
Though the incident has yet to be officially confirmed, our source gathered that they were on their way to Abuja when they were kidnapped on Friday.
They were claimed to be heading to Abuja to attend the wedding of the state governor’s daughter, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, Adaora, which is scheduled for tomorrow (Saturday).
Confirming the kidnapping on the telephone, a top government source said the incident happened at a yet-to-be-confirmed location in Edo State.
The source said, “Yes, we are aware the incident happened. The state government will react to the development soon. Sources said the commissioner was on his way to Abuja to attend a function.
“No information yet concerning the situation, as no one has reached out to any of the family members or the state government yet; until he is released, we will know exactly what happened.”
The insider was unable to provide any information about why the commissioner did not travel by flight.
Meanwhile, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the state police spokesman, said the command received the information and forwarded it to other state commands for possible action because the crime did not occur in Anambra.
