An accident along the Saapade axis of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Easter Sunday led to the death of one person, while three others sustained varying degrees of injuries.
Chronicle NG gathered through a traffic update by the Commandant General of the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE), Seni Ogunyemi, on Sunday, that the accident occurred at about 6am.
Ogunyemi revealed that the accident happened when the driver of a Howo truck fell asleep at the wheel, causing it to crash into the median along the motorway.
The impact of the crash killed one of the truck’s four occupants, while the other three were injured.
He said, “A fatal road traffic crash occurred at km 67, Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Fidiwo axis inbound Lagos on Sunday at about 05:49 hrs.
“It involved a Howo truck with the number plate T2358LA. The accident happened when the driver fell asleep while in motion and lost control.
“Four adult males were involved in the crash; one adult male died while three adult males were injured.”
He added that the crash generated minor traffic congestion, which was alleviated by TRACE personnel.
