Some officers from the Delta State Police Command have been arrested and imprisoned for abusing a young man in a now-viral video.
SP Bright Edafe, the command’s spokesperson, announced the news in a post on X on Sunday, which included a video.
Edafe said that their arrest was ordered by the command’s Commissioner of Police, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda.
We won’t tolerate incivility. Gone are those days when brutality and incivility go unchecked. Those who assaulted him will be used as an example as directed by the CP,” he noted.
Edafe also stated that the officers involved have been detained while their team leaders have been queried.
He wrote, “Action taken! Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, has ordered their detention while the team leaders, who are senior police officers, are queried.
“Orderly room trial to commence on Monday. While the evidence is obvious, the evidence of the person assaulted can help to reach a deserving judgement.”
