Nollywood filmmaker Kiki Mordi has accused Pastor David Favour Love of poisoning his wife, Chief Love Shimite, the Special Adviser to Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.
Shimite died in the early hours of Easter Monday following what sources described as mysterious circumstances.
SP Bright Edafe, Delta State Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, verified her death and stated that Shimite was confirmed dead at the hospital where she was taken to.
The circumstances surrounding her death are unknown as of the time of filing this report.
However, Mordi alleged that the deceased’s husband killed the her in a bid to take over her properties.
In a statement on X on Monday, Mordi alleged that Pastor Favour isolated his deceased wife from her family and relatives.
Mordi further alleged that prior to Shimite’s death, Favour ordered her to transfer her properties to him.
“This man @FavourGem is responsible for isolating Shimite from her family in just one year, stealing from her, transferring ownership of her properties to himself. Just a few days ago she was asking for a list of her assets; today she’s dead,” Mordi wrote on X.
In another statement on X, Mordi accused Favour of poisoning his late wife.
“@davidfavourlove has been remanded in custody for poisoning his wife and locking her daughter in with her dying mother. Another femicide statistic. Another woman is dead at the hands of her husband. One day enough will be enough,” Mordi added.
Chronicle NG reports that the Delta State Police Command has taken Favour into protective custody after he received death threats over his wife demise.
According to Edafe, “He (the husband) was the one who called to report that his wife died early this morning and that he was receiving threats from her family, who feared he might be attacked. It was on this basis that we went to his house and brought him in for his own safety.”
However, Edafe revealed that the deceased’s family lodged a formal complaint with the police, expressing suspicion that the husband may have had a role in her death.
He added, “We are currently investigating. In situations like this, only an autopsy can determine whether the death was natural or due to other causes.”
