During a media parley at the Dangote Petroleum Refinery in Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos State, Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, revealed that he doesn’t own houses outside Nigeria to maintain focus on industrializing the country.
Dangote shared that while he once had a house in London, he sold it in 1996 to avoid distractions.
“The reason I don’t have a London or America house is solely because I wanted to focus on industrialization in Nigeria. I figured that if I had those houses, there would be one reason or the other for me to visit those places, thereby causing distractions for me,” he explained.
He added that besides his Lagos residence, he owns another house in his home state Kano and rents one in Abuja.
Group Executive Director of Commercial Operations, Fatima Dangote, praised her father’s dedication to the Nigerian dream, noting his unparalleled work ethic and resilience.
“I have not seen anyone as hardworking as my father. Sometimes I wonder how he never gives up. I wish we had a few more men like my father in Nigeria; the country would be a better place,” she said.
