The electoral victory of the Senate Minority Leader, Senator Simon Mwadkwon, who represents Plateau North- Senatorial District in the National Assembly, has been overturned by the Court of Appeal in Abuja.
The three-member panel led by Justice Daudu Williams ruled unanimously that the PDP did not legitimately nominate Mwadkwon.
The panel concluded that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) did not completely comply with court directives because 12 Local Government Areas (LGAs) did not participate in the congress.
The panel also mandated a rerun for the Plateau North Senatorial seat within 90 days.
The panel highlighted non-compliance with a Plateau State High Court judgement made in 2020 for the PDP to hold Congress before nominations as a crucial cause in their ruling.
The Appellate panel, chaired by Justice Okon Abang, also overturned Musa Avia’s victory in the House of Representatives for Bassa North.
