Twenty medical students from the University of Jos (UNIJOS) and University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID) who were kidnapped in Benue State have just been rescued, security sources revealed.
The rescue was disclosed by security sources on Friday.
The rescue operation was coordinated by the Office of the National Security Adviser.
The rescue operation involved security agencies, including the police, DSS, and military personnel, along with support from the Benue State government.
The medical students were kidnapped on the Otukpo/Otukpa/Enugu federal highway last Thursday while on their way to Enugu State for the Federation of Catholic Medical and Dental Students’ annual convention.
Following the kidnapping, the IG team landed in Benue State on Monday and was immediately dispatched to Otukpo in search of the victims.
