Rear Adm. Olusola Oluwagbire, Flag Officer Commanding (FOC), Eastern Naval Command, has advised pirates to keep away from Nigerian waters.

Oluwagbire issued the warning on Thursday during his first visit to NNS Jubilee in Akwa Ibom’s Ikot Abasi Local Government Area and other units.

“We are coming to smoke sea pirates out of our waterways, we will get them and roast them,” the FOC warned the navy commanders.

He said that he was at Akwa Ibom as part of his first assessment of naval command bases and troops.

Oluwagbire directed the commanders to restructure their activities and dispatch boats to the sea to effectively police the waterways.

The FOC urged the public to provide beneficial information to the command in order for criminal individuals in society to be apprehended.

“There is one element of security that most people do not understand: security is everyone’s job, not just security agencies’.

“If you see something, report it to the appropriate authorities so that it can help improve society.”

“We are together, we will do it, and we will make the waterways safer and better,” Oluwagbire added.

The Forward Operating Base, Ibaka, Mbo LGA, the projected Naval base at Essene, Ikot Abasi LGA, and the Nigerian Navy Military School, Ikot Ntuen were all inspected by the FOC.

Oluwagbire also visited the new Girls Model Secondary School in Onna LGA’s Awa Ubium and the Utaewa Jetty in Ikot Abasi.
