The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has called on the public to provide credible information regarding alleged incidents of child sexual abuse and misconduct in daycare centers across Nigeria.
In a public statement released on Tuesday through its official X account, the agency stated that it was dedicated to looking into issues brought up in recent public debates and viral articles in great detail.
“Following recent public discussions and concerns raised regarding alleged incidents of child sexual abuse/misconduct in daycare settings in Nigeria, we are committed to thoroughly investigating credible reports,” the agency stated.
Anyone with factual information, proof, or firsthand knowledge of the claimed incidents—including those directly impacted—is encouraged to get in touch with NAPTIP in confidence.
“We kindly request anyone with factual information, evidence, direct knowledge, or who was personally affected by the matters referenced in the viral posts or related experiences to kindly reach out to us confidentially via DM or email us at info@naptip.gov.ng,” it added.
NAPTIP’s response highlights its broader mandate to protect children from all forms of exploitation, including sexual abuse.
Details of the viral content were not elaborated on in the statement, but it comes in response to recent widespread public discussions and viral social media posts highlighting alleged incidents in daycare environments.
