Napoli held on to their narrow lead at the top of Serie A with a goalless draw away at Parma, maintaining their 11-game unbeaten run.

The result, coupled with Inter Milan’s 2-2 draw against Lazio, keeps Napoli in control of their title destiny heading into the season’s final weekend.

The match started with early threats from both sides. Parma’s Ange-Yoan Bonny nearly opened the scoring with a curling effort, but Alex Meret reacted well.

Down the other end, Matteo Politano tested Parma’s goalkeeper Zion Suzuki, who was alert to the danger.

Meret was the busier of the two keepers in the first half, tipping over a thunderous strike from Simon Sohm.

Napoli’s Frank Anguissa came closest to scoring before the break, showcasing skill and power before volleying against the post.

The second half resumed in frantic fashion, with Sohm again forcing a save from Meret. Politano nearly struck from a mishit cross, clipping the bar as both sides chased a breakthrough.

With time running out and news filtering in of Inter’s lead, the visitors pressed harder. Scott McTominay came close with a well-taken free-kick, only to be denied by a spectacular save from Suzuki.

Late drama saw a penalty awarded to the visitors, but VAR overturned the decision for a prior foul, much to the relief of Parma and Inter fans alike.

In the end, both sides settled for a point. Parma avoided a fourth consecutive defeat against Napoli and kept clear of the relegation zone.

Meanwhile, Napoli stay top and just one win away from clinching a second Scudetto in three seasons.
