Nigerian On Air Personality, Osi, has berated Natasha Osaworu, the fiancée of singer 2Baba, for saying Idibia is her maiden name.
Speaking during a plenary session at the Edo state house of assembly, Natasha described herself as “nee Idibia” when she introduced herself.
“My name is Honourable Natasha Irobosa Osaworu, née Idibia,” she said in a video seen by TheCable before getting into her speech during the state assembly plenary.
Introducing herself as Idibia sparked immediate laughter among her colleagues as she took the floor.
The amusement stemmed from her well-known connection to Nigerian music icon 2Baba Idibia, whose real name is Innocent Idibia.
Reacting to Natasha’s introduction of herself as “nee Idibia”, Osi described her as an “illiterate”, ignorant of the right use of the word “nee”.
In a statement on X on Wednesday, Osi wrote, “Look at this illiterate Née means born Meaning your maiden name or the name you had at birth before you changed it due to marriage.”
Osawaru is a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and a lawmaker currently representing the Egor constituency in the Edo House of Assembly.
On Monday, she was removed as the minority leader of the state house of assembly.
Her removal follows a shift in the party’s majority status after four PDP lawmakers defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), giving the latter majority control.
The lawmaker was removed alongside Charity Aiguobarueghian, the former majority leader, and Yekini Idaiye, who served as chief whip of the house.
Natasha has been in the spotlight since 2Baba announced his split from Annie Idibia in January and confirmed his relationship with the lawmaker.
In February, the ‘African Queen’ singer proposed to her while insisting their relationship had nothing to do with his separation from Annie.
