Africa’s prolific businessman and President/CEO of Dangote Group of Industries, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, has been berated over claims he will “worsen the price of fuel” in the country.
These were the remarks of an X user simply identified as The Scientist (@idealist90).
In a statement on X on Wednesday, the social media user alleged that Africa’s richest man would skyrocket the price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) in the country.
His comment comes amid jubilation over the reduction of the price of diesel at his privately owned refinery.
Chronicle NG reports that Dangote refinery has reportedly started selling diesel at N1,225 per litre, which has led to a drop in prices.
According to reports, the pump price of diesel has recently reduced, falling from approximately N1,700 per litre a few weeks ago to around N1,350 per litre in certain areas across the country as a result of the Dangote Petroleum Refinery selling the product.
Dangote refinery is expected to begin the sale and supply of premium motor spirit (PMS) by May 2024.
Reacting to the news, the X user berated Africa’s richest man for allegedly inflating the price of his cement despite manufacturing the commodity in Nigeria.
His statement reads, “The change will not last. Dangote manufactures cement in Nigeria. The plants are in Nigeria, and the raw materials are in Nigeria.
“Under GEJ, his cement was N800; today, the same cement now costs N10,000. In fact, this man will worsen the price of fuel soon.”
