Striker Yassir Zabrini scored twice as Morocco clinched its first-ever Under-20 World Cup title with a 2-0 victory over Argentina on Sunday.
Zabrini found the net in the 12th and 29th minutes of the final, helping Morocco become the first African nation to win the U-20 crown since Ghana’s triumph in 2009.
The North African side topped a tough group featuring Spain, Brazil, and Mexico before advancing past South Korea, the United States, and France in the knockout stages.
It was Argentina’s first defeat of the tournament as they aimed for a record-extending seventh title.
The South American giants reached the final despite missing their two standout players in this age group, Bayer Leverkusen’s Claudio Echeverri and Real Madrid’s Franco Mastantuono.
Argentina has now lost two U-20 World Cup finals, the first being against Brazil in 1983.
