Feyisayo Ogedengbe, the auxiliary nurse who treated the late singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, also known as Mohbad, has revealed that the rapper had a reaction and began vomiting after she gave him a tetanus injection.

On Friday, Ogedengbe testified before Justice C.A. Shotobi at the Coroner’s Court in Ikorodu, Lagos, that she had gone out to get more medical supplies when she received a call that Mohbad was convulsing.

According to her, after receiving the tetanus shot, Mohbad had goosebumps, which his wife, Omowunmi, described as a “normal response” for him when injected.

Ogedengbe revealed that on September 12, 2024, she was contacted by one Ayobami Sodiq (also known as Spending) to treat Mohbad.

When the nurse arrived at Mohbad’s Lekki home around 2:30 pm, she noticed a swollen cut on his right hand.

She administered a tetanus shot to his upper arm, and after confirming an ulcer, she gave him paracetamol instead of diclofenac.

She then injected him with 4 ml of paracetamol diluted with 1 ml of water, along with a slow 10 ml dose of ceftriaxone to treat a bacterial infection.

The nurse stated that as she administered the ceftriaxone, Mohbad began to feel discomfort and got up to vomit.

“After vomiting in the toilet, he returned to the room and sat on the floor, where I noticed the goosebumps on his body.

“I showed his wife (Omowunmi) the reaction, and she said it was his normal response to injections,” Ogedengbe stated.

She explained that there were four people in the room, including Mohbad, his wife, and Ayobami, when the injection was administered.

Ogedengbe added that she then asked Omowunmi why she had not disclosed Mohbad’s customary reaction to injections.

“Omowunmi then took Mohbad to the bathroom and began pouring water on his head,” she narrated.

Recognising the gravity of the situation, the nurse reported that she and Ayobami went to a drugstore to obtain treatment for the allergic response but were delayed at the first pharmacy.

She stated, “After visiting another pharmacy and obtaining the necessary hydrocortisone injection and normal saline infusion, we returned to find Mohbad outside the house. By then, preparations were underway to take him to the hospital.

“Due to a lack of available vehicles and heavy traffic, Mohbad was transported to the hospital on a motorcycle, where he was later declared dead on arrival by the medical team.”

She recounted that when they arrived at the hospital, the medical workers were first hesitant to treat him, which caused some misunderstanding.

Ogedengbe reported that Mohbad’s body was returned to the residence about 8 p.m., while they headed to the Orchid Lekki Police Station to seek a death certificate. Following police enquiries, they were led to the Ajiwe Police Station in Ajah to file a report.

The matter was adjourned for further hearing on Friday, March 21, 2024, following cross-examination by the counsel representing Mohbad’s family, Dr. Wahab Shittu, SAN; Omowunmi’s counsel, Kabir Akingbolu; and that of the state.

In February 2025, the Lagos State Director of Public Prosecutions indicated at a Magistrate Court in Sabo, Yaba, Lagos, that Ogedengbe and Sodiq will face prosecution for careless and negligent activities under Section 251(e) of the Lagos State Criminal Law, 2015.

This came as the court acquitted popular music singer Abdulazeez Fashola, widely known as Naira Marley, as well as music promoter Samson Balogun, also known as Sam Larry, Owodunni Ibrahim (Primeboy), and Mohbad’s former manager, Opere Babatunde.
