Gaddafi Isah, 35, and Badamasi Isah, 30, were beaten to death by a mob in Katsayal village, Sandamu Local Government Area, Katsina State, for allegedly stealing livestock.

Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency expert focusing on the Lake Chad region, confirmed this in a post on his X account on Monday.

According to him, intelligence sources showed that the two victims had driven their father’s vehicle to the outskirts of the community to learn how to drive.

He added that during the drill, a mob approached and accused them of stealing sheep.

He further stated that the mob surrounded the two men and severely battered them, causing varied degrees of injury.

“The victims were rescued by the security forces who were deployed to the scene and rushed to the Community Health Centre in Sandamu for treatment, but they were later confirmed dead by a medical doctor,” he posted.

He further stated that the vehicle in which the deceased individuals were driving was damaged during the incident.

He stated that the police had initiated an inquiry into the event and were working to apprehend those guilty for the attack.

When called, Abubakar Aliyu, the state police command’s spokesperson, did not answer the phone.

As of the time this report was filed, no response has been received to a text message issued.
