Al-Nassr has made an undisclosed bid to Manchester City for Spain defender Aymeric Laporte.
Despite making 43 starts in 2021–22, Pep Guardiola preferred Manuel Akanji and Nathan Ake during City’s treble-winning season.
City then paid £77 million this summer to sign Croatian left-sided defender Josko Gvardiol, 21.
At Al-Nassr, Laporte may join the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Sadio Mane, Marcelo Brozovic, and Alex Telles.
Laporte, who transferred his international allegiance from France to Spain in 2021, joined City from Athletic Bilbao in January 2018 for a club record sum of £57 million.
Guardiola had taken over as manager of City 18 months before, and Laporte’s ability to move the ball out from defence had helped the side win the Premier League championship five times in the previous six seasons, but the additions of Gvaridol, Ake, and Akanji had reduced both his importance and playing time.
