    A 40-year old man, Hillary Apeh has been arrested for allegedly abusing a nine-year old girl in Maryland Estates, 3-3 Onitsha, Anambra state.

    The suspect reportedly inflicted several wounds on the body of the victim, identified as Chioma Ogbu, said to be his niece.

    It was gathered that the suspect had severally abused the victim, leaving her with scars all over her body.

    Police spokesperson, Haruna Mohammed, confirmed the arrest, saying the victim has been taken to the hospital for treatment.

    He said the man confessed he assaulted the victim over her repeated delay when sent on an errand.

    He added that the suspect would be charged after investigations.

    He said, “On the 14/6/2020 at about 10:am, police operatives attached to 3-3 Police Station Onitsha arrested one Hillary Apeh ‘m’ aged 40 years of Maryland Estates 3-3 Onitsha.

    “Suspect brutally assaulted his niece one Chioma Ogbu ‘f’ aged 9 years of same address and inflicted several wounds on her body.

    “Preliminary investigation further revealed that the suspect had on several occasions physically abused the victim who has scars all over her body.

    “Victim was taken to the hospital for treatment while investigation is ongoing after which suspect would be brought to book.”
