Lil Nas X, the controversial US singer, was arrested and hospitalised after a concerning public incident in Los Angeles in the early hours of Thursday morning.

The ‘Old Town Road’ hitmaker was discovered wandering Ventura Boulevard around 5:30a.m. dressed only in his underwear and cowboy boots.

According to eyewitness accounts, the 26-year-old singer was behaving erratically; at one point, he was seen balancing a traffic cone on his head while making cryptic statements like, “don’t be late to the party”.

Alarmed bystanders contacted the police. Upon their arrival, the situation escalated. Police spokesperson Charles Miller alleged that the singer “charged” at the officers and struck one, leading to his arrest on suspicion of misdemeanor battery.

The police also confirmed that the singer was first transported to a hospital for evaluation amid fears of a possible drug overdose. He was later discharged from the hospital and taken to Valley Jail in Van Nuys.

Video of the incident, posted by TMZ, corroborates the reports of the singer’s state and attire.

The incident comes a few months after Lil Nas X announced that he was hospitalised for suffering from partial paralysis on the right side of his face.

Lil Nas X first rose to global prominence in 2019 with his record-breaking single ‘Old Town Road’. That same year, he publicly came out as gay on social media.
