    LASTMA averts fire incident in Lagos
    A gas-loaded truck with registration no. KRD 281 XL struck the recently erected barrier by the government at Alaka inward Stadium.

    A major tragedy was averted on Saturday as operatives of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) prevented a fire disaster around stadium bridge inward Ojuelegba area of Lagos.

    In a press release, LASTMA Director,  Public Affairs and Enlightenment, Adebayo Taofiq cited Lastma Officer Akinde Olusola of Zone 3, Iponri area of Surulere as having confirmed that a gas-loaded truck with registration no. KRD 281 XL struck the recently erected barrier by the government at Alaka inward Stadium.

    “Zebra Olusola confirmed further that in an attempt for gas truck to force itself under the newly erected barrier had its content (gas) spilled on the main garriage by Akaka inward Stadium bridge.”

    “Immediately the incident occured Lastma officials quickly invited other energency responders particularly the Lagos State Fire Service and condoned off the main carriage way at Alaka by Stadium bridge for motorists to avert any fire outbreak” Adebayo wrote citing Olusola

    “While the driver of the truck was arrested and handed over to Police men from Area ‘C’ Divisional Police Station, vehicular movement were diverted to service lane from Alaka to continue their movement inward Ojuelegba by Lastma Officials” the statement reads

    The General Manager of LASTMA Mr Bolaji Oreagba urge articulated truck drivers to always make use of the service lane whenever they are embarking on any journey around Stadium to Ojuelegba area of Lagos.
