    Lagos opens banks, restaurants as lockdown relaxes

    The Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, made the announcement of Sanwo-Olu's directive on Tuesday.

    Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos has opened commercial banks and restaurants as the state relaxes lockdown even as it continues to curb coronavirus.

    The state government however announced that its partial opening does not capture religious and worship centres.

    In his address Wednesday, Sanwo-Olu stressed that all places of worship remains closed until further notice.

    He however lifted the ban on eateries and restaurants. They are to open between 9am-3pm and are to do only takeout. “No eat in. Also 9am-3pm only! Take note! Must wear gloves and masks,” he said.

    He said commuters must wear masks and gloves when using public transport. “All commuters to wear masks and gloves. Handwashing equipment and thermometers must be provided.

    “Buses to load 60% capacity. For instance if you bus can seat 10 people, you can only load 6 persons. No standing. All air conditioners off on BRT! All commercial bikes suspended! Tricycles to carry 2 passengers only.”

    He said the controlled easing phase for all businesses also includes the banks and companies. “All staff will work between 9am and 3pm. Maximum of 60% capacity on ground. Others to work from home”.

    All schools remain closed, he said. He encouraged school to initiate online teaching.

    He explained that whistle blower channels will be introduced for any one who flaunts the directives.

    “All beaches, clubs, gyms, salon, cinemas, swimming pool remains closed,” the Lagos governor said.

    He said markets to open on designated days between 9am-3pm.

    Elevators are to operate at 50% capacity only.

    He said funerals are permitted. Only 20 people permitted to attend and that includes the officiating ministers. No party to follow it.

    “Curfew remains in place as directed by the President. 8pm to 6am.and starts from May 4th.”

    “Review of compliance to be done again in 2 weeks,” he said.
