The Kano State Government has arraigned 632 suspects accused of vandalizing public facilities and looting as the hunger protest continues in the state.

Chronicle NG reports that protesting youths, chanting anti-government songs and holding the Russian flag, were seen at locations such as Dakata, Rimin Kebbe, State Road, Under Bridge and other areas.

Speaking in Kano, the spokesman of the Governor, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, explained that the 632 arraigned suspects were arrested for destroying public assets.

Tofa warned that the Kano State Government’s commitment to maintaining peace and order is non-negotiable, adding that those found guilty of vandalism would face the law.

He added that the state government plans to provide massive training programs for youths in various trades to promote self-reliance, to curtail their likelihood of being used to cause breakdown of law and order.

The spokesman also announced that a special committee of inquiry will be set up to investigate those behind the killings and looting of public buildings in the state.

The commission will ascertain the root causes of the killings and destruction of public buildings, he said.

He clarified that the protesters carrying Russian flags were not affiliated with the government, and urged the security agencies to unravel those behind them and their motives.

He explained that the genuine protesters in the state had submitted their grievances and requests to the government, which he said would be forwarded to President Bola Tinubu.
