Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf has dismissed Commissioner for Investment, Commerce, and Industry Shehu Sagagi of his duties with immediate effect.
Sunusi Bature, the governor’s spokesperson, announced the news in a statement on Thursday.
According to the announcement, Sagagi has been asked to hand over the ministry’s responsibilities to the director of commerce until further instructions.
The governor thanked the former commissioner for his efforts during his tenure, recognizing his contributions to the state’s development.
“Governor Yusuf acknowledges Sagagi’s contributions, particularly in the areas of politics, religion, and support for small and medium enterprises,” the statement read.
He wished the former commissioner well in his future endeavors and emphasized his administration’s dedication to effective service delivery and good governance.
According to the statement, the move is part of continuing efforts to reposition Kano State’s government institutions for methodical growth and sustainable development.
The development comes only days after the governor removed Abdullahi Musa as head of service as part of measures to reorganize the state civil service for increased efficiency, discipline, and better service performance.
Musa was directed to hand over to Bilkisu Shehu Maimota, the permanent secretary, administration and general services, cabinet office, who is now serving in an acting capacity pending a substantive appointment.
These changes come amid ongoing political realignments in the state following Yusuf’s defection from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) to the All Progressives Congress.
Chronicle NG gathered that the shift has triggered adjustments across political and administrative structures, with several government officials and political actors repositioning in line with the new party alignment.
