Inter Milan escaped a scare against Kazakhstan’s Kairat to win narrowly and maintain their perfect start to the Champions League season.
The Italians had won their previous three league games, scoring nine goals without reply.
That domination appeared to continue as they made a solid start to this game, but Lautaro Martinez squandered several good chances and had one cleared off the line as the hosts struggled to break through.
However, Inter captain Martinez broke the tie just before halftime, scrambling in from close range after his original shot was blocked.
Inter appeared to be on their way to a comfortable victory, but Kairat equalized early in the second half when Ofri Arad headed into the bottom corner.
But Inter Milan remained composed and reclaimed the lead when Carlos Augusto drove in from the edge of the box.
Inter are equal with Bayern Munich and Arsenal on 12 points after four games, while Kairat is still looking for their first win.
