Inter Milan missed a crucial opportunity to take the lead in the Serie A title race after being held to a dramatic 2-2 draw by Lazio at the San Siro.

Lazio extended their unbeaten league run to six games with this hard-fought point.

The match began cautiously, with few clear chances in the first 20 minutes. Lazio goalkeeper Christos Mandas was alert, saving attempts from Federico Dimarco and Marcus Thuram.

Inter finally broke the deadlock in first-half stoppage time when Yann Bisseck capitalized on a loose ball from a Hakan Çalhanoğlu corner to score.

Lazio struggled to break down Inter’s defense but created chances late in the first half, including a penalty appeal after Taty Castellanos went down under a challenge from Dimarco. However, it was Lazio who equalized early in the second half through substitute Pedro, who finished clinically following a cutback from former Inter player Matías Vecino. The goal came after a lengthy VAR check.

The host responded quickly, with Denzel Dumfries heading in a powerful goal from a Çalhanoğlu cross to restore the lead and spark celebrations at the San Siro.

Late in the game, both managers were sent off during another VAR review that led to a penalty awarded to Lazio. Pedro calmly converted the spot-kick, securing the draw.

Inter striker Marko Arnautović missed a golden chance in stoppage time and later had a goal ruled out for offside. With Napoli drawing at Parma, Inter’s failure to win is a significant blow in their title bid.

Inter now face Como in the final match of the season, hoping for a favor from Cagliari, who play Napoli.

Lazio, meanwhile, remain competitive for European qualification despite ending their three-match away winning streak.

Pedro was named Man of the Match for his decisive contributions.
