Iga Swiatek of Poland has delivered a masterclass performance to defeat Amanda Anisimova, her American opponent, in straight sets (6-0, 6-0) and secure her first Wimbledon women’s singles title.

The one-sided final, played Saturday evening on centre court at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, marked Swiatek sixth Grand Slam victory and her maiden triumph at the prestigious grass-court tournament.

The eighth-seeded Pole’s flawless display earned her the Venus Rosewater Dish, making her the first Polish player in the Open Era (since 1968) to win the Wimbledon singles title.

Agnieszka Radwańska (2012) had previously been the only Polish woman to reach the final.

Swiatek latest triumph also etched her name further into tennis history.

    • Medvedev, Iga Swiatek both through at China Open

She became the third woman in the Open Era —after Margaret Court and Monica Seles — to win her first six Grand Slam finals.

At 24, she is the youngest player since Serena Williams, who was 20 in 2002, to secure major titles on all three surfaces: clay (four Roland Garros titles), hard court (one US Open), and now grass (Wimbledon).

Iga Swiatek is now the fastest woman to claim 100 Grand Slam wins (out of 120 Grand Slam singles matches) since Serena Williams in 2004 (100 wins from 116 matches).

As the champion, she went home with the £3,000,000 prize money.
