Dr. Ifeanyi Ogbu, an Abuja-based veterinary practitioner and former head of the Nigerian Veterinary Medical Association, FCT Chapter, was assassinated by alleged kidnappers who abducted his three children.

The deceased’s home in the Kubwa area, near the Kubwa-Kaduna route, was reportedly invaded by gunmen on Friday night.

They kidnapped him and his three children, then dumped his body by the roadside.

Andrew Gabriel Ikechukwu verified Dr. Ogbu’s death on his Facebook page, stating that the corpse of the dead was found on the roadway.

He wrote, “Dr. Ifeanyi Ogbu, the immediate past chairman of the NVMA FCT chapter, who was kidnapped alongside his three children from his home in Kubwa, Abuja, was found dead.

“The three children are yet to be released. May God please intervene.”

The late Ogbu was referred to as a dedicated professional. He leaves behind a nursing wife and bereaved family.

Dr. Ogbu’s family is still in distress as search and rescue efforts for his three abducted children continue.

Colleagues and colleagues have expressed astonishment at the killing, calling it a sad loss for both his family and the veterinary profession.

The attack comes just a week after Somtochukwu Maduagwu, an Arise TV journalist, was killed during a robbery in Katampe, another area of Abuja.

The FCT Police Command had yet to release an official statement on the murder of the doctor and the kidnapping of his children at the time of filing this report.
