Nigerian singer and actress Tiwatope Savage, popularly known as Tiwa Savage, has addressed lingering controversies involving Davido while also setting the record straight on rumors linking her to Wizkid.
In an interview with The Breakfast Club on Tuesday, Savage spoke freely about the December 2023 disagreement with Davido, as well as her previous experiences in a covert relationship she described as ’embarrassing.’
The Tiwa-Davido feud began after she shared an Instagram story with Sophia Momodu, Davido’s first baby mama. Speaking in the interview, Savage detailed the origins of the disagreement and underlined that it was a personal affair.
“Our kids are friends, and they’ve gone to the same school since they were one. They’re 10 now. I’ve known David before that, but I naturally grew a relationship with the mother of their kid. And I didn’t really know there were issues,” she said.
Tiwa added that the incident at a social gathering was misinterpreted.
“I guess I was at an event, and she was too. Naturally, we greeted each other. He saw that, and he took it the wrong way. I think it was a misunderstanding. He felt like I knew what was happening and was on her side—but that’s not the case. This is just a woman I know, who is the mother of my son’s friend.”
Davido apparently saw the post as a challenge, prompting Savage to say he sent her disparaging texts and cautions to “be careful in Lagos,” which she mistook for threats. She then filed a police petition accusing the singer of endangering her life.
When asked if she feared for her safety, Tiwa answered, “I don’t think he was ever going to carry it out. David is such a joyful person, and I know he didn’t mean it the way it sounded… I always put our kids first, and that’s why I feel I have to be respectful to the mother of a child. It’s all about love.”

Tiwa described the dispute as a miscommunication rather than a serious conflict. “Even if I did know, I don’t think I would have chosen a side. It’s not my business to take sides,” she said.
The ‘Eminado’ crooner indicated that her choice to involve the authorities was based on caution.
“I reached out to members of his family before I did anything. I was hearing threats and asked if we could resolve it, but none of them came back to me. I just wanted to ensure safety for everyone involved, and that’s why I filed a petition. It wasn’t about revenge.”
Despite the incident, the singer insisted on maintaining a cordial relationship with Davido.
“I want everyone to know there’s no bad blood. I haven’t spoken to him, but I love him, and I always put our kids first. That’s what matters.”
She also addressed rumors linking her to Wizkid, stating, “Shout out to Wizkid.” I love Wizkid. I respect Wizkid. It’s not about him.”
She also clarified that her prior remark about a hidden romance with a public figure was not about Wizkid and that the relationship, albeit private, had been extremely difficult.
“At the time, I didn’t see how bad it was. It chipped away at my confidence, and it comes through in my music. I hadn’t even been able to perform that song because of how it made me feel. It’s embarrassing to think I let that happen,” she admitted.
Tiwa concluded on the personal impact of the experience, saying it was both challenging and formative. “I haven’t been able to perform … It was tough,” she admitted, adding that the ordeal shaped her music and brought authenticity to the themes of love, heartbreak, and faith in her work.
