The US President-elect has decided to keep to his campaign promises by rejecting some policies of President Barrack Obama. In this vein, he has announced Tom Price, who is an acute critic of Obamacare policy as the health secretary for his administration.
Tom price is a congressman in Georgia and an orthopaedic surgeon who has chaired the budget committee in the House of Representatives.
He would play a central role in Republican plans to replace Obamacare policy with an Affordable Healthcare Act.
In his campaign promises, Mr. Trump vowed to repeal and replace the act, considered President Obama’s flagship measure.
Mr. Trump said that Mr. Price was “exceptionally qualified”, referring to him as a “tireless problem solver” and “the go-to expert on healthcare policy”.
“He is exceptionally qualified to shepherd our commitment to repeal and replace Obamacare and bring affordable and accessible healthcare to every American.” He said
Mr Price stated his readiness serve as the health secretary on behalf of the American people, adding that he was “humbled by the incredible challenges that lay ahead”
