Celebrity chef  Hilda Baci, on Friday officially began her attempt to cook the world’s largest pot of Nigerian jollof rice at the Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos state.

Baci, who set the record for the longest cooking marathon in 2023, will host the “Gino Jollof Festival” in collaboration with the spice and culinary brand Gino.

The historic event will include a custom-made pot measuring six metres broad and six metres tall, into which 250 bags of rice will be cooked.

Bolaji Idowu, the head pastor of Harvesters International Christian Centre, prayed for Baci and praised the endeavor just before she lit the burners.

Social media influencers such as Enioluwa Adeoluwa, Tomike Adeoye, Folagade Banks, and Veekee James were also present to cheer her on.

The event has attracted large crowds, including Gen Zs, millennials, cuisine aficionados, and celebrities.

According to the organizers, over 20,000 people have registered to attend the festival, which is free and open to the public.

Baci has also promised attendees that the lunch will be “amazing and hygienic,” with a record-breaking Nigerian jollof rice experience.
