A clash between Hausa and Yoruba communities in the Oluwole Market in Ogba, Lagos, has led to the death of one person, with many reported injured.
The fight, which started on Thursday night and escalated into Friday morning, resulted in the tragic death of a young man, further fueling tensions between the two groups.
According to reports, the clash reportedly started when a Yoruba man, identified as Abbey, intervened in a quarrel between two Hausa men.
During the intervention, Abbey was allegedly stabbed by an unnamed assailant, causing fatal injuries.
Following Abbey’s killing, Yoruba inhabitants in the region launched a retaliation attack.
The retaliation attack destroyed property, notably food products like peppers, onions, and other goods sold by Hausa sellers in the Oluwole Market.
The fights halted economic activities, generating substantial inconvenience and fear among people.
