The inability of travellers to afford the hike in the cost of transportation due to the increase in the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), also known as petrol, has led to a man (passenger) being tired in the boot of a car.

The yet-to-be-identified man in pictures that have gone viral on social media platforms was seen tired at the boot of a travelling vehicle.

According to reporters, the traveler from the Charanchi area of Katsina state was said to be travelling 40 kilometres to the Kankia area of the state.

However, due to his inability to afford the fare, he opted to be tied along with the goods of other commuters.

This development follows the hike in the pump price of petrol as announced by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL.

Chronicle NG reported that the NNPCL has pegged the pump price of petrol to be above N1000 in most parts of the country. A development that has led to the hike in the prices of goods and services in the country.

Describing it as ”condemnable,” Nigerians lamented that the increase in the price of petrol has reduced humans to being tired to the car booths while travelling.

In a series of comments on X while reacting to pictures of the traveler, Nigerians berated the President Bola Tinubu-led federal government for bringing untold hardship to the populace.

This publication highlights some of the reactions of Nigerians to the pictures of the traveler tied in the booth.

Vamsi, ”This is so sad. Tying a man to luggages in the car boot over transport fare hikes? It’s a heartbreaking reflection of desperation and the struggles people face. No one should have to endure such humiliation.”

Favxparte, ”On this mandate he had been tied. This pandemic of hunger is getting wild in Nigeria. You see, in northern Nigeria, they have never had it this bad. This revolution we are talking about will come from there.”

Job Nankar, ”You will think this is not true, but go to our rural areas and see things for yourself. I have seen people entering car booths and trunks; two people are sitting on the driver seat. It’s pathetic; no regard for human lives in this part of the world.”

Jasper Aniet Louis, ”That’s just the reward of same faith ticket that he is benefitting from. Next time, they should avoid being deceived by political criminals in their region.”

Nyolins, ”Many more perch atop goods haulage vehicles loaded full of animals, bags filled with grains, and tubers. Man’s inhumanity to man in a country stupendously blessed in natural resources, rich over and above what rich Western countries we hoard our wealth in, boast of.”

Ani Ugochi, ”At this point I don’t pity anyone anymore. Nigerians love their chains and will defend criminal elements in government with their dying breathe.”

Osobalase ”Give him choice to vote in that boot, he’ll still gladly vote those that makes his life miserable. Live with your choices. Everyone is absolutely responsible for the outcome of their lives.”

Collins Obinna, ”Many Muslims thought that they would get special treatment with the announcement of the Muslim Muslim ticket, but everybody is feeling the heat.”

Lucky, ”An Igbo man will never do this unless the car is taking him to Europe or America. Next election, keep voting tribe and religion rather than competence.”

Kemi, ”I feel no sympathy for hungry Nigerians, sorry to say. Nigerians are not ready yet.”

Chima Obi, ”The funny thing is if an election is held today, this same victim will still vote for a rogue as long as the rogue is a Muslim.”
