    Gunmen kill one, kidnap two ECWA church members in Kogi

    At least one person has been confirmed dead after a group of armed men stormed an Evangelical Church Winning All,ECWA church in Okedayo along the Kabba–Okene road in Kogi State.

    It was gathered that the assailants invaded the church on Sunday morning while service was ongoing.

    The gunmen shot sporadically which led to the death of a church member, identified as Mr Reuben Gbenga.

    Two other church members were whisked away by the bandits to an unknown location.

    Those abducted include; Elder Oshadumo Julius and Elder Abiodun T.O.

    The Kogi state Police Command confirmed that attack through its Public Relations Officer, DSP William Ayah, who added that the injured were currently recieving medical attention.

    Ayah reiterated that security operatives will not rest on its oars until it ensures that the perpetrators of the dastardly act are brought to justice and the victims freed.

    The PPRO urged the public to inform security agencies of any suspicious movement of persons in their communities to fast-track their search and rescue operation.

    The latest development comes after an ECWA pastor was butchered by unknown assailants in Kaduna state while on his way to Kafanchan.

    The attack occurred on the 12th of September, 2021.

    Chronicle NG also reported that a group of unknown armed men raided a Medium Security Custodial Centre (MSCC) in Kabba, Kogi State, releasing over 240 inmates.

    The attack which took place around midnight on Sunday September 13, 2021, was confirmed by the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) spokesman, Mr Francis Enobore, who issued a circular notifying the public on the latest development.

    Enobore stated that the assilants came heavily armed and engaged the prison guards in a fierce gun battle. They overpowered the guards and set most of the prisoners free.

    Kabba MSCC was established in 2008 with a capacity of 200 inmates.

    At the time of the invasion, 294 inmates were in custody, 224 of which were pre-trial detainees and 70 convicted inmates.
