Gunmen kidnapped a female realtor known only as Esther in Ibusa, Oshimili North Local Government Area, Delta State.
The incident occurred on Monday near Nigeria’s Admiralty University, just days after a farmer was kidnapped in Issele-Azagba.
Chronicle NG gathered that Esther and three colleagues were inspecting a piece of land when the attackers struck.
“They went for inspection, and they were on their way back when they were ambushed.
“The gunmen shot at the vehicle, and the others escaped while the girl was whisked away by the gunmen,” a source said.
One of the escapees apparently suffered gunshot wounds and is in serious condition at a hospital.
Bright Edafe, the state police public relations officer, confirmed the event on Tuesday, stating that policemen assigned to rescue the injured were ambushed and one officer was shot.
He said, “Yes, it’s confirmed. Some police officers who were going for the rescue of the victim were ambushed, and a police officer was shot, but nobody died.”
