Four students from Nasarawa State University, Keffi, have been kidnapped.
The students were reportedly taken away on Tuesday after their lodge in Angwan Kare, a village in the Keffi Local Government Area, was stormed by armed men.
DSP Ramhan Nansel, the Police Public Relations Officer, Nasarawa State Police Command confirmed the kidnapping to journalists on Tuesday.
He said the State Police Command received a distress call in the early hours of Tuesday reporting that gunmen had stormed a residence in Angwan Kare.
“The command is aware of kidnapping at about 12:55 am as a distress was received that a house located at Angwan Kaare, Keffi was invaded by unidentified armed men,” Nansel said.
Efforts to track down the criminals after combing the area were futile, but a manhunt has been initiated to rescue the students, according to a police spokesman.
“The police in collaboration with the military, responded accordingly and combed the area, but to no avail.
“The Commissioner of Police has ordered a manhunt for the culprits with a view to rescue the victims unhurt,” Nansel said.
The victims are all first-year students at the institution, and their names are Rahila Hanya from the Science Laboratory Technology department, Josephine Gersho from Computer Science, Rosemary Samuel from Business Administration, and Goodness Samuel from Geography.
