A 64-year-old man has reportedly raped a six-year-old girl in Ondo state.
Th suspect, Ajayi Awe, who was revealed to be a grandfather allegedly defiled the minor in his home at B/98 Daja Ajowa-Akoko, in Akoko North West Local Government Area of the State.
Awe met his waterloo when the victim’s mother, Mrs. Fatimah Obademi raised an alarm after her daughter had complained about it to her.
Mrs Obademi immediately reported the case at the Okeagbe-Akoko Divisional Police Headquarters.
The Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, in the State, DSP Funmi Odunlami confirmed the incident, adding that the suspect had been apprehended and was currently in police custody.
Odunlami assured that the victim had been taking to the hospital for medical care and the suspect had confessed to the crime.
She added that the grandfather would soon be charged for rape in court after investigations have been concluded.
