The Golden Eaglets of Nigeria have been eliminated from the current Under-17 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Algeria.

The squad was defeated 1-2 by Burkina Faso in the event’s quarterfinals on Thursday at the Nelson Mandela Stadium.

As a result of failing to reach the AFCON semi-finals, Nigeria would not be able to compete in the 2023 FIFA Under-17 World Cup in November.

Following a defensive blunder by Tochukwu Ogbiji, Aboubacar Camara put the Burkina Faso team ahead in the 45th minute of play.
