Ghali Na’Abba, the former Speaker of the House of Representatives, has reportedly died, aged 65.

The 8th Speaker of the House of Representatives, born on September 27, 1958, died on Wednesday morning in Abuja.

According to family members, the late Na’Abba fought illness for a long time before dying.

He was once transported abroad for medical treatment and stayed for several months before returning to Nigeria.
According to sources, the former Speaker’s remains would be interred today in Abuja according to Islamic customs.

The late Na’Abba joined the Peoples Democratic Party and ran for the Kano Municipal Federal Constituency, which he won in the April 1999 general elections.

Following the political turmoil that resulted in the resignation of the first Speaker of the Fourth Republic, Salisu Buhari, he was elected Speaker of the House of Representatives.
He studied political science at Ahmadu Bello University in Zaria, where he graduated in 1979.
