Nollywood megastar, Funke Akindele has just announced the death of her father, a retired school principal on her social media platform.
“Dad!!! May your soul Rest In Peace!! I tried Dad! I did!! We love you but God knows best!!! #iwish i can turn back the hands of time,” she wrote on her Instagram page.
Funke however did not indicate when the old man died or his age.
Messages of condolence have started pouring in for the actress, better known as Jenifa for her lead role in Jenifa dairies.
Reacting to the news, Nollywood actress, Tonto Dikeh, posted “RIP Sir”.
“So sorry for your loss sis”, singer Waje wrote.
“Our Our condolences”, wrote Olorisupergal.
Funke’s father is from Ikorodu, in Lagos State. Funke is the second of three children, two girls and one boy.
