The Organized Labour has condemned the latest hike in fuel pump price to N617, branding the change as unacceptable to Nigerians.
In response to the development, the NLC’s head of media and public relations, Comrade Benson Upah, informed journalists that the increase poses a severe threat to the citizenry’s socioeconomic well-being, companies, incomes, and livelihood.
The labor unions, on the other hand, asked the federal government to reconsider its decision to drive fuel prices to N1,000 per liter.
NLC questions how the current fuel price trend would benefit the people or the economy, especially in light of the much-touted increased optimism.
According to the NLC, the new pump price of petrol could soar to N1000 or more per litre very soon. Adding to that, it makes planning tough and life unpredictable.
While urging the Tinubu administration to reverse its course, the Labour movement stated that people were dissatisfied and that the union’s silence should not be taken for granted.
